Doctor’s Strike: IMA holds a 24-hour-long nationwide protest
New Delhi: With slogans ” Enough is Enough” Indian Medical Association (IMA) is holding All india protest against violence at IMA, Headquarters in delhi today.
Indian Medical Association is holding a 24-hour-long nationwide protest withdrawal of all Non-Essential Services including OPDs starting from 6 am. IMA has also staged a ‘dharna’ at IMA headquarters in Delhi protesting the recent assault on doctors in West Bengal.
While speaking To Ten News, Dr Rajan Sharma,IMA,National President (Elect), said, “The IMA has demanded a national law and a minimum of 7 years imprisonment against violence in hospitals. Hospitals should be declared safe zones and provision of appropriate security should be the responsibility of the state, it added. The Delhi Medical Association and Safdarjung Hospital have joined the protest.”
Dr. Saini, President, Delhi Medical Council said, “Security measures and the determinants leading to violence should also be addressed, it said in a statement.
Exemplary punishment for perpetrators of violence should be a component of the central law and suitable amendments should be brought in the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).”
While talking to Ten News Juniors Doctorsa and young medical students said,” Structured safety measures including 3-layer security, CCTVs and restriction of entry of visitors should be well defined and enforced uniformly across the country in all sectors.”
