Almaty: On Friday, a plane from Bek Air crashed near the city of Almaty in Kazakhstan. Airport officials gave this information. According to Wion, 9 people have died in this accident, while 9 others have been injured, including children.
According to the ministry, the aircraft did not reach altitude after take-off and lost balance and crashed into a two-story building. In a Facebook post, officials at Almaty Airport further said that some people have survived the accident, but the numbers are yet to be confirmed.
The aircraft carried 95 passengers and five crew members. The aircraft was traveling from Almaty to the Kazakh capital Noor-Sultan, but disappeared from radar. The rescue operation was on till the news was written.
The Kazakh government has formed a special commission to investigate the incident. The commission was going towards the accident site.
The ministry said that all the details and causes of the accident will be found. Until the situation of the incident is clear, all flights of such aircraft will remain suspended.
The plane crashed in a residential area, where people are being evacuated. Airport officials also said that they have suspended flights of Fokker-100 aircraft after the air crash. The Bekum Air airline uses Fokker-100 aircraft for flights from Almaty to Noor-Sultan.
