Mogadishu: 25 people were killed and several others were injured in a car bomb blast near an investigation post in Somalia's capital Mogadishu on Saturday.
According to the news agency Xinhua, government spokesman Ismail Mukhtar Omar said that a suicide bomber blew up his vehicle near a police check post on Afgoi Road.
"I confirm that 25 people including many students were killed and many others were injured in the attack," he said.
A police officer present at the scene said that the explosion was carried out keeping the tax office on the road.
He said that the officers were checking the vehicles passing through the road, when a car exploded and many people died. No terrorist organization has taken responsibility for the attack yet.
According to news agency Effe, the terrorist organization Al Shabaab, which has devoted allegiance to Al Qaeda in 2012, has carried out repeated attacks in Mogadishu. Al Qaeda has control over parts of central and southern Somalia.
