Oh Baby! Northside Hospital Welcomes Its First Babies Of 2020

GEORGIA — More than 25,000 babies were born at one of the four Northside Hospitals around Atlanta that delivers. These are the first babies born in 2020 at Northside Hospital campuses.

Northside Hospital Atlanta

Ella and Louis Durham of Marietta welcomed a son at 12:17 a.m. at Northside Hospital Atlanta on Jan. 1. The baby, whose name is still being negotiated between mom and dad, weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces.

Mom and baby are doing well. Ella, who works at the Northside Hospital Cancer Institute, was originally due Jan. 6. Louis was hoping their baby would arrive before the New Year. “I wanted the tax write-off in 2019,” he joked.

Nearly 16,000 babies were born at Northside Hospital Atlanta in 2019, more than any other single hospital in the United States.

Northside Hospital Gwinnett

Evelyn Jean Sherman was born at 12:24 a.m. at Northside Hospital Gwinnett to parents Daniel and Julie Sherman of Lawrenceville. Baby Evelyn weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces.

“We are pleasantly surprised, and blessed beyond measure,” said proud new father Daniel. “The staff and nurses have all been wonderful – from meal service to clinicians.”

Evelyn was due Jan. 3. This is the Sherman’s first child.

More than 4,300 babies were born at Northside Hospital Gwinnett in 2019.

Northside Hospital Forsyth

Coaston Kent Anderson was born at 12:50 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2020 at Northside Hospital Forsyth. He’s the first child for Allie and Landon Anderson of Braselton. Coaston weighed 5 pounds, 11 ounces.

Allie, who is a pre-op nurse at Northside Hospital Gwinnett in Lawrenceville, delivered Coaston at 34 weeks. He’s in the hospital’s Special Care Nursery; however, he’s doing great according to his parents despite “the unexpected turn of events.”

“He’s a sturdy little boy,” Allie said. “The NICU nurses have been amazing.”

Coaston is expected to stay in the hospital for about 1 ½ weeks before going home with his parents.

Approximately 3,500 babies were born at Northside Hospital Forsyth in 2019.

Northside Hospital Cherokee

Annette Pina-Alba was born at 4:14 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2020 at Northside Hospital Cherokee. Parents Maria Alba and Luis Pina live in Woodstock. Baby Annette weighed 10 pounds, 1 ounce.

Approximately 2,000 babies were born at Northside Hospital Cherokee last year.
