India's space agency ISRO (ISRO) has selected four astronauts for India's upcoming Gaganyaan mission on the new year. Four Indian Air Force pilots will go for this mission. ISRO chief K.K. Sivan gave this information in Banglore and said that the training of these selected astronauts will begin in the third week of January.

Due to this, ISRO has prepared to send four Air Force pilots to Russia to train as astronauts by February. The country's space agency is going to try for its first manned spacecraft in 2022 and is also planning a second attempt to land a rover on the moon next year.

ISRO chief said on Vikram Lander's failed landing
K. Sivan (K. Sivan) said on Wednesday that several systems of Gaganyaan need to be tested and crew training will be a major activity this year. He said that India's next lunar mission, Chandrayaan-3, was approved. He said that the launch could happen next year. At the same time, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said on 31 December that India will launch Chandrayaan-3 in 2020. Chandrayaan-2, the ongoing Chandra mission has been largely successful – but Vikram Lander failed to land on the moon in September.

Rs 250 crore will be spent
Sivan said that it will have a lander, rover and a 'propulsion module' as before. Sivan said that the launch of Chandrayaan-3 can go till next year. ISRO Chief said that the work of both Chandrayaan-3 and Mission Gaganyaan is going on simultaneously. Gaganyaan is India's first mission to take humans into space. Referring to the life span of Chandrayaan-2 orbiter being 7 years, he said that it will also be used for the third lunar mission. On the cost of the Chandrayaan-3 project, Sivan said, 'This mission will cost Rs 250 crore.'

This was ISRO's strategy in 2019
In 2019, ISRO's strategy was to expand programs. ISRO has started land acquisition for the new spaceport and the port will be built at Thutukudi in Tuticorin district of Tamil Nadu. Apart from Sriharikota, this will be the second such center. ISRO chief said that there is a plan to hand over the construction of Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) to private hands.
