This is a poorly-designed question.  Did you check this problem before you wrote it?  Both B and D are the answers.  When you decide to use the back solve technique, there should be only ONE correct choice! Therefore, when you find it, you don't have to check the other answers, as opposed to Plugging In a number where you have to check each individual answer.  If you had arbitrarily gone to B instead of D, you also would have found a solution that worked.  You need to change this example or clarify it!
