new Delhi: The wait for the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup is going to end. The much-awaited tournament starts today (January 17). This tournament is being played in South Africa. 16 countries are participating in this. The Indian team is going down as the defending champions in the Under-19 World Cup under the captaincy of Priyam Garg. He will be under pressure to save his title.

This will be the 13th edition of the ICC U19 World Cup 2020. Its 16 teams are divided into four groups. The Indian team has been placed in Group A. There are teams from New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Japan in this group. Group B consists of teams from Australia, England, West Indies and Nigeria. In Group C, Pakistan will face challenge from Bangladesh, Scotland and Zimbabwe. Group D consists of teams from Afghanistan, Canada and UAE along with hosts South Africa. The top-2 teams from each group will enter the Super League stage.

The Indian team (U19 Team India) will go on to name the Under 19 World Cup for the fifth time. The captain of this team is Priyam Garg, who has made many achievements to India's youth team so far. Dhup Chand Jurel, vice-captain of the team has been made. National Cricket Academy i.e. NCA Chief Rahul Dravid also reached Mumbai for the selection of this team. Rahul Dravid has been the coach of the Under 19 team. Because of this, they know what is the specialty of which player.

Total 48 matches between 16 teams
The tournament will be played in Round Robin and Knockout formats. There will be a total of 48 matches between 16 teams. The first match of the 26-day World Cup will be between hosts South Africa and Afghanistan. The Indian team will play their first match against Sri Lanka on Sunday (19 January). The final of the tournament will be played on 9 February.

The World Cup of Under-19 cricket is being held for the 13th time. The Indian team has won the tournament four times out of the last 12 (2000, 2008, 2012, 2018). Australia has won the most titles in the tournament after India. The Australian team has won the Under-19 World Cup three times. Pakistan has won two and England, South Africa and West Indies have won this tournament once.
