What are the enemy assets, which the government will sell?

Enemy property is actually called property whose real owner is no longer present. Those people who settled in Pakistan during or after the partition of the country, their land and houses were left here. Those houses were occupied by other locals, although they do not have any valid documents. The government has the power to take such assets in its possession. Officials say that the government can raise several lakh crore rupees by selling these properties.

Such properties present in different states of the country have been given the status of enemy property. They are owned by the Government of India. Recently, the Union Home Ministry had indicated the sale of enemy properties. In March 2017, Parliament passed the Enemy Property (Amendment and Validation) Act 2016.

Enemy property also includes that when India had a war with Sino-Pak and the people living near those fronts left their land and property and went to Sino-Pak. In such a situation, the property of the citizens of these countries under the India Security Act belonged to India only.
