  1. This is misrepresentation of facts. LIC is doing well..
Friends, Present-day Journalism is just to create sensation. They never ever educate the people. It is very unfortunate for the financial dailies falling into sensational category.

Normally comparison will be there for Current Year to Last Year. Here they compared it with the 5 Yr before figure. Wording used is "Doubled" to keep the sensation.

During the past 5 Yrs many financial Institutions vanished, Big Industrial Houses like Jet Airways became extinct, famous Businessmen fled from India because of Business failures, Govt infused capital to many banks…Once healthy Institutions like BSNL, Aviva, Reliance Life etc have become sick. Petitions at NCLT (National Company Law Tribunal) getting increased day by day.

LIC has to invest in the available institutions as per our LIC Act. When the economy moves through very difficult times, it is quite natural to see an increase in default of loan repayments, because of the problems in business & environment.
As per the Accounting Standards, LIC makes provision for the default, as and when required. LIC also pursues all such cases vigorously through various means. % wise, the Gross NPA of 6.1% is much lesser than big Banks like SBI, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Canera Bank, PNB et al.

It would be worthwhile to take a look at LIC's Net NPA at this point of time, since Net NPA is the real villain dipping into the profitability of a Financial Institution. While Banks record a Net NPA of around 5%, the *Net NPA in respect of LIC, as on 30.09.19 is just 0.33%*. The Media House could very easily verify this fact from LIC's quarterly disclosure statements and added this aspect also in their report, if indeed they were doing justice to their role with their journalistic dharma. Hence it is quite natural to have doubts on the intentions of the Media House, when they publish such cooked-up stories.

LIC has been growing against all odds, beating intense competition from 23 Private Life Insurers who all are in close collaboration with multi-national players. LIC is in limelight today because of an incredible, scintillating business performance, possibly sending shivers down the spine of these companies. In November alone, the combined market share of 23 pvt companies was only just about 16%! A mammoth market share of 84% for LIC alone! A gain of market share of 14% in just one month!!! Obviously, there are ample reasons for private companies to be terrified and in panic. Then a blowback was expected in the form of misguiding, malicious media "implants" like this. These reports seem to have been created simply to do some kind of harm to LIC and it's clients, since they suspect a repeat, or even a better show by LIC in January, due to plan refiling….

Some other inconsistencies in the report:

👉🏻 LIC does not make profit, but Surplus
👉🏻 LIC's profit was not Rs.2600 cr, but a surplus of Rs.53214.41 cr
👉🏻 Rs.2611 cr was handed over by LIC to Gvt of India as 5% share of its surplus

Friends, 87% of LIC's investments till now, is in100% safe Govt. Securities having Sovereign Guarantee*. Close to 10% of investments are in AAA-rated investments, which have the *highest possible degree of credit-worthiness. The net NPA of the Corporation is just 0.33% as on date, which is one of the lowest internationally. So there is absolutely no way any one needs to get confused at these mal-intentional press reports.
